Current Artist Statement

Hannah Oldham is an artist working in ceramics, installation, and social practice. Her work investigates the relationships people build through everyday acts of gathering, from sharing meals and coffee to occupying public spaces together. Interested in the subtle moments that create a sense of belonging, she uses objects and installations as invitations for connection rather than as ends in themselves.
Interested in how objects can encourage interaction, Oldham often creates work that extends beyond traditional gallery settings. Whether through collaborative projects, audience participation, or unexpected installations in public spaces, she uses art as a catalyst for conversation and connection. Clay's permanence serves as a counterpoint to these fleeting moments, preserving evidence of human relationships and shared experiences.
Through her practice, Oldham asks viewers to consider who they gather with, what spaces foster belonging, and how simple acts of connection can shape communities.
